Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. delivered a custom-designed generator unit to Egypt
Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. successfully delivered a special, completely custom-designed generator set for the Egyptian Financial & Industrial Co. With the completed order worth nearly HUF 100 million, the Hungarian company, which manufactures transformers, high-performance electric motors and generators, and services high-voltage equipment, has strengthened its position in the North African region. The company’s Service division also completed one of its largest projects with the on-site refurbishment of a hydro generator in the North African country.
Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. restarted production in the year of its foundation, in 2020, in its factory, which was returned to Hungarian ownership after more than 15 years from the former Indian owner CG Electric that struggled with financing problems. Since then, the company has been steadily increasing its production volume and expanding its export activities, as illustrated by the fact that Ganz has already fulfilled 80 percent of its order volume for this year in the first quarter.
In the recently completed project, worth nearly HUF 100 million, the Hungarian heavy equipment manufacturer delivered a generator unit with a capacity of 3,500 kVA and 11,000 V to the Cairo-based Egyptian Financial & Industrial Co. in Egypt. Ganz’s custom-designed, special generator unit will be used by the agrochemicals company to recover heat energy from process exhaust steam in its fertilizer factory. The generator, which will operate at an exceptionally high speed of 1,500 RPM, will provide approximately 50 percent of the plant’s electrical output, ensuring significant savings in the operational costs for the Egyptian Financial & Industrial Co. factory.
“Our company has been present in the Egyptian market since the 1980s, but following the restructuring, this is our first project in the new era of Ganz, with more planned projects and cooperations for the future. Our company’s goal for this year is to continue to grow and strengthen our market position, and an important part of this is to stabilize our ownership and the operation of our factory in Tápiószele and to boost our export activities. This project of 250 thousand euros that we have just completed in Egypt proves the success of the reorganization process and the stabilization of our operations” – said Jan Prins, managing director of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd.
Ganz also carried out maintenance work on a 75 MVA hydro generator for the Hydro Plants Generation Company (HPGC) in Aswan, Egypt. This is one of the largest refurbishment projects carried out on-site by Ganz’s Service division in recent years.
