An active presence in the international markets, the introduction of a new smart technology solution, stable operation, and growing manufacturing capacity. Overall, these defined the activities of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd. in the third quarter of 2022. In addition to having successfully completed a number of export projects in countries such as Egypt and France, we also officially launched our latest technological development, Ganz Intelligent Solutions. Our colleagues also represented the company at national and several international conferences and exhibitions between July and September.
Dynamic growth in the first half of 2022
Following a successful reorganization process, and despite the difficult economic conditions and the war in Ukraine, Ganz has been on a stable growth path in the first half of 2022. The company has also further strengthened its position on the international stage. As a result, the primarily export-focused company’s order intake was more than HUF 17.5 billion in the first half of 2022, and already contracted 80 percent of its order volume target for this year in the first quarter. The value of the unexecuted order book is nearly HUF 21 billion, of which almost HUF 7,5 billion is already booked for 2023. As a result, revenue expectations for 2022 are close to HUF 20 billion.
Successfully completed international projects
Due to a successful first half year and the rebound in production capacity, the company completed several projects abroad in the third quarter of the year, strengthening its position in markets such as Egypt and France. In July, the company delivered a special, completely custom-designed generator set with a capacity of 3,500 kVa and 11,000 V to the Cairo-based Egyptian Financial & Industrial Co. for nearly HUF 100 million.
The company’s service division also completed one of its largest projects to date in the North African country with the on-site refurbishment of a hydro generator. As part of the project, Ganz’s colleagues carried out maintenance work on a 75 MVA hydro generator for the Hydro Plants Generation Company (HPGC) in Aswan, Egypt. This was one of the largest refurbishment projects carried out on-site by Ganz’s Service division in recent years.
Over the summer, the company also “returned” to France, for the first time in the new Ganz era. As part of a renewable project, the company delivered a high-performance, 70 MVA, 235 kV transformer unit for the wind power plant Poste du Mont Varin in Northern France, for the wind power plant developer Volkswind Gmbh, for nearly HUF 340 million. The commissioning and testing of the custom-designed power transformer were carried out on-site by the heavy equipment manufacturer’s service team.
Following the successful commission, Ganz’s custom-designed transformer unit will transform the energy generated by the wind farms to the voltage level of the local electricity transmission grid, thus contributing greatly to the security of supply that is also essential for renewable energy production. The transformer units connect the renewable energy plants to the electricity grid, ensuring that the energy produced is not wasted.
GANZ Intelligent Solution is here
In parallel with the increase in production capacity and international expansion, the Hungarian heavy machinery manufacturer has been working in recent months on a digital solution that can provide a complete picture of the status of transformers through a special monitoring system. Ganz officially launched its latest intelligent technology development, Intelligent Solutions, at the 68th International Meeting of the Hungarian Electrotechnical Association in September, marking the start of a new digital and intelligent era of transformers.
Developed in partnership with the German company, Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, Ganz aims to provide the market with intelligent transformer units that will help the industry achieve its sustainability ambitions, combine decades-old technology with digital solutions and increase system security in the electricity market. Ganz also expects to build an even stronger market position in both the domestic and international arenas due to the new development and the quality of service it will provide. Transformers with intelligent condition monitoring system not only support Ganz’s growth plans, but also help the industry to achieve its sustainability ambitions, combine decades-old technology with the latest digital solutions and increase system security in the electricity market.
From Debrecen to Belgrade – An active presence in the professional space
In addition, Ganz has further strengthened its presence in the national and international professional arena. The company has been working in recent months to establish long-term cooperation with Óbuda University in the framework of a so-called Ganz Department. The company expects that this academic cooperation will provide the right engineering talent for Ganz’s transformer and rotating machinery division.
The export-focused company was also present at several conferences and exhibitions with its own booth. At the 68th Annual Electrotechnical Conference and Exhibition, which took place between 21-23 September at the Hotel Lycium, was not only the debut of Ganz Intelligent Solutions, but the company’s experts, dr. Gábor Nádor, R&D and Innovation Manager, and Balázs Sztari, Head of Testing & Quality, talked about all things power transformers as part of a seminar. Attendees of the conference were also able to see a demo version of the new transformer with intelligent monitoring system at Ganz’s stand.
Following the Electrotechnical Conference and Exhibition, the company presented the new smart development at Windenergy Hamburg, which is one of the most important conferences and exhibitions in the wind energy industry, with more than 1400 exhibitors and 35 thousand visitors. Then, later at the annual meeting of the energy sector, at the EnergyFair in Belgrade.
