Over the course of 2023, Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. is carrying out a major, multi-phase service project at the Esna Power Plant, one of Egypt’s key hydroelectric power plants. The company, which manufactures transformers, high-performance electric motors and generators, and services high-voltage devices, carried out the maintenance of a 16.8 MVA hydrogen generator in the first phase of the service work, which ended in May. Subsequently, by the end of the year, the company’s technicians will refurbish 2 more generator units.
During the maintenance work carried out since the beginning of the year, the specialists of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. produced the stator coils required for the operation of a 16.8 MVA three-phase horizontal hydrogen generator. In addition to this, Ganz’s technicians also provide on-site professional supervision of the coiling process, which requires unique expertise, as well as the disassembly and assembly of the generator unit. Based on the preliminary schedule, the heavy machinery manufacturing company produced the coils required for the operation of the hydrogen generator in the second half of 2022, while the on-site coiling was carried out in recent weeks.
Ganz’s specialist carried out the service works of the hydrogenerator for the Hydro Plants Generation Company (HPGC), a company that operates in the field of hydropower production, at the Esna Power Plant, a hydroelectric power plant located on the Nile with a capacity of 100.8 MVA and producing almost 473 GWh of electricity per year. The renovation of the hydrogen generator is the first part of the cooperation including the renovation of three generator units with Mot-GEN MEA, a company based in Cairo, dealing with the supply of rotating and mechanical machines. Following the maintenance work, the electric hydrogen generator was put into operation at the end of May and it is already producing energy for the electricity grid. At the same time, Ganz is also currently producing additional coils for the generator units that provide energy to the power plant’s electricity production. According to preliminary plans, the entire service project will be completed at the end of 2023.

Founded in 2020, Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. has set the goal for this year to expand its service business geographically and technologically, in addition to the production of transformers and rotating machinery and the further development of the intelligent condition monitoring system, Ganz Intelligent Solutions. As a result of this, Ganz’s service activities now not only include installation, testing and commissioning of units, but the company also supports its partners in the power transmission and distribution sector as an expert in on-site diagnostics, parts, and lifecycle management for products of its own and of other manufacturers.

Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. was founded in 2020 and after liquidation proceedings were initiated in July 2020 against CG Electric Systems Hungary Ltd., the company bought the Ganz factory in Tápiószele and its assets in a public auction and concluded employment contracts with nearly 300 former employees of the company. As a result of the reorganization, the company is now 100% Hungarian-owned again after more than 15 years. The company manufactures custom-made high-voltage electrical equipment, including transformers, motors and generators, and provides related service activities for its customers at its plant in Tápiószele. The company employs more than 300 people, making it one of the largest employers in the region.
