Tápiószele, 22 December 2020 – Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd., the tenant of the Ganz factory in Tápiószele, has agreed on the continuation with nearly 300 employees. The historic factory, which is the largest employer in the Nagykáta and Cegléd regions, will continue to manufacture and maintain transformers, generators and industrial motors with the aid of its usual employees of unique expertise.
Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd. successfully preserved the employments of around 300 former employees of the Ganz factory in Tápiószele, after the company – currently operating the factory as a tenant – agreed with the employees on the continuation and signed the new employment contracts. The company, which aims to bring the world-famous Ganz brand back to the electrical industry, is of great importance to serve the unique needs of its customers in the future with its internationally recognized professionals.
After a temporary shutdown for several months, production resumed in early September at the Ganz factory in Tápiószele with modern infrastructure and existing ISO certifications. After many years, the first Ganz-branded motors rolled out of the production line of the industrial transformers, high-performance motors and generators plant in December. For a German customer, the factory newly manufactured a 12-ton, 1495 kW, 4 kV machine that will drive a wrecking machine; while for its existing partner, Paks Nuclear Power Plant, it renovated a 35-ton, 3,500 kW, 6 kV pump drive motor which was manufactured by Ganz Villamos Művek in 1983.
Between 2006 and 2020, the legal successor of Ganz Villamos Művek operated under the name of CG Electric Systems Hungary Ltd., owned by the Indian-based Crompton Greaves group of companies. Due to the financial difficulties of the previous owner and the effects of the coronavirus epidemic, the company was only able to pay part of the wages in May, June and July for the employees. Liquidation proceedings were initiated against the Hungarian company in July this year with the involvement of a state liquidation organization, and a government decree later declared the company a strategically important business organization. Subsequently, outstanding of wages were paid from the National Employment Fund and the liquidator, who temporarily exercised ownership rights, decided to lease the factory. This was undertaken by Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd. , which primarily aimed at preserving jobs, ensuring a stable financing and production background, restoring customer and supplier relations, and in the medium term, rebuilding the Ganz brand at the domestic and international level.
