Production volume is increasing at the recently reorganized Ganz transformer plant in Tápiószele. The historical plant is currently producing several transformers with different capacities, and the company has recently won a tender announced by ELMŰ Ltd. Through the successful tender, Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd. . which operates the factory, will supply two 25 MVA and one 40 MVA transformers to the energy service provider, which will indirectly contribute to the energy supply of Heves and Eger.
Production at the Ganz transformer plant in Tápiószele is on the rise again after several months of temporary shutdowns. As the winner of the tender announced by ELMŰ Ltd., the company now contributes to the energy supply of two cities, Heves and Eger. As part of the project, which is worth more than 1 million euros, it will supply two 25 MVA transformers and one 40 MVA transformer to ELMŰ. The former two will be located near the city of Heves, the latter near Eger, with the commissioning of all three equipment expected to take place by the end of June.
Gábor Nádor, Head of Transformer Division at Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd. said that the biggest challenge of the project was the expectation of low noise levels, adding that the company is proud to have managed to keep the equipment within the 50 dB limit. According to the division head, this assignment is part of a process that could put Ganz on a growing trajectory again. The main goal of the company is to become profitable as soon as possible. According to Gábor Nádor, the company is on the right track, which is exemplified by winning the current tender.
The Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd. , which operates the plant, has protected the jobs of nearly 300 Ganz employees by resuming production in September at the site of CG Electric Systems Hungary Zrt., which has been in liquidation since July 2020. Between 2006 and 2020, the Ganz plant belonged to the Indian-based Crompton Greaves group, but the previous owner found itself in an increasingly difficult economic situation in recent years, unable to support sales or finance projects. The problems were also exacerbated by the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Liquidation proceedings were also initiated against the company, involving a state liquidation organization, following a government decree in June declaring the company a strategically important business organization. The Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating machines Ltd. , established last year, continues the diversified activities in the fields of industrial production that have been going on for more than 140 years in the former Tapiószele factory of Ganz Villamos Művek.
